Someday Isle

I am the Chief of Someday Isle; your ticket to our peninsula is procrastination
Mediocrity gives you an edge
Laziness and doubt are our watchword
Where the Commander-in-Chief is distraction
He is taxed to arrest our dreams and imaginations

Day dreaming is our mantra
Laughter is not a statute on our books because Lieutenant Fear will cripple it
Action is described as persona non grata, but laziness is primus inter Pares
Our architects are experts at building castles in the air, we honestly don’t care about the foundation

If you are tired of pursuing your dreams we will give you a five-year multiple visa to our island
Don’t be scared, once you arrive we will make your stay permanent
Leave behind your ambition; it’s your sure way of making our Queen Mother idle chatter incensed
On our Independence Day we fly our popular slogan “once bitten twice shy

We disagree with Saint Francis of Assisi, so our creed is;
Lord make us instruments of mediocrity
Where there are dreams help us sow a mirage
Where there is hope – despair
Where there is faith - doubt
Where there is light – darkness

Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter @had_i_known… See you soon.

U or S (You or Us)

Energy to do work has always been one of man’s greatest needs. This explains why one will go to the ends of the earth to obtain a little bit more energy to do additional work for extra wages to live a desired and comfortable life. Truth is, in the absence of energy, humans are just a body of blood and can do nothing more than to lie down at a place of rest for a very long time. Anytime energy is discussed, two things come to bear and that includes expending and retaining this intangible asset.
On this backdrop, I want to share with you a little life’s trick or advise if you like, that a wise old man taught me throughout my life as a student especially during the period of examinations (exams time) of which I live by till this very day. He didn’t give this little trick any special name but I choose to call it the U or S (You or Us) theory. “If you are not found using your energy learning for your exams, you should be found sleeping to conserve acquired energy for later studies” He would say, “Anything aside that is a recipe for failure!” He would always add. To better appreciate his viewpoint, let’s picture his statement in contrast; where pending examinations, you spend your energy; chit chatting, socializing unnecessarily, gossiping , needless outings among others till you have grown weary and exhausted so much so that your only option is to fall asleep or take some rest. Technically, you have achieved a bunch of nothings with your acquired energy during the period of study and you will later find yourself lying comfortably in the ever-welcoming arms of failure.
The You or Us theory is a jargon derived from the original representation of the acronym U or S where;
U stands for Use of energy to achieve a desired goal. What was he seeking to communicate with this theory?, he believed that at all times, every individual should be found using acquired energy to do work in line with desired goals and objectives. This individual should at no time be found using acquired energy to execute low-valued or no-value tasks including chit chatting, outings, and idle talks among other things that have no contribution to the desired goal. Or,
S stands for Sleep/Rest to conserve energy for use later in profitable ventures. He also understood the value of rest although it is a luxury he practiced sparingly; he reminded us often that we should be found sleeping or resting in order to conserve energy for use later in profitable ventures.
In addition, the theory of You or Us reveals that;

YouYou are in absolute or total control of the activity you decide to expend energy executing. It is the case that all individuals desire to be prosperous; that is what makes us the same. So in your quest to achieve your desired height of success and prosperity, you must constantly be the sole decider of the activities you expend your energy executing. Or,
Us – When you freely outsource the decision of what to use your energy for to Us; by us I mean any individual aside yourself including friends, lovers, relatives, fraternities, political parties among others. Here, we decide for you what you should use your energy for. In your life, the most frequently used phrase is let’s or ‘make we’ (pidgin English equivalent); Let’s go window shopping, let’s go dance at my late uncle’s one-week funeral anniversary, let’s go on a demonstration, let’s go campaigning for this political party or better still make we go cause commotion, make we go chat these girls/guys among other let’s and make we’s. You hardly have time to decide on your own what you want to achieve in life because you spend time being an executor of someone else’s thought. Simply, you are just a lengthened shadow of other individuals, which evidently does not include you but the ‘us’ in your life that keeps taking your time and putting your energy to use for their own benefit.

Adopt this little trick for a few days and you will notice a drastic change in your life. Always strive to be the ‘You’ in the You or Us theory, so you can have total control of your affairs, that is, your time and the tasks you spend acquired energy executing. The world still hungers and thirsts for successful individuals, so use your time and energy to become one of the few success stories.
Best Regards

Love Mutated

I’m on a trip down memory lane
Unfortunately time had stood still to make me feel lame
Thoughts pierced my heart without shame
Oh Lord! I used to stay awake because of this dame

A dandy now turned into a dummy
Life delves me blows like a tsunami
A happy go lucky boy turned Grumpy
What did I do to deserve this my soul asks the closest to it – that’s me

I learned fast
I moved on
My emotions they drown me – too tall
I pushed them back, they still stall

The once happy lad now turned mannequin
Once extroverted, now sullen faced
Be careful where to apportion blame
Now my love is stunted, it suffers pseudopseudohypothyroidism
